My name is Gen, and I am currently on a journey to optimal plant based health. I have started this blog because I feel that there is a lot of misinformation out there about health and wellbeing, especially in the plant based and vegan world. I think it is incredibly difficult to be a parent and raise kids, and it is even more difficult to make sure everyone in the family is healthy and happy. I will share my recipes, tips and insights into becoming a healthy and happy mother, and raising a healthy family with you on WithExtraVeg.

I have been considering veganism for many years, but our family converted fully to a vegan diet 12 months ago. We are still learning as we go, and have had some slip ups, but we are getting there slowly. We have all definitely enjoyed better health since giving up animal products.

I am currently studying a degree in Health, majoring in Nutrition and Exercise. I have decided to go back to university to study this degree because I am passionate about helping people lead healthy and happy lives. I believe that nutrition and exercise play a huge role in disease prevention and treatment, and give us a much better quality of life. I also want to learn how to make sure that my diet is the healthiest for me and my family, and I’m excited to share this knowledge with you, my readers.

I have two young boys – a 2 year old and a 6 year old. My older son has food sensory issues, and my younger son is just plain fussy, so I have a lot of experience in trying to keep fussy kids healthy.
