You want your kids to go vegan, but you’re really worried about whether it’s truly the healthiest option for them. Can they really get enough protein, iron and calcium on a vegan diet?

You keep looking for information, but everywhere you look seems to say something different. One site says that it’s easy to get everything on a vegan diet, and the next says that your kids have to have dairy for calcium.

Then you go to your doctor and he tells you that they have to have red meat for iron, and let’s not get started on what your in laws are saying….

You’re pretty sure a vegan diet is healthy, but you’re just not quite 100% sure who to believe….

Hi there, my name is Gen,

And trust me, I’ve been right there too, pouring over google to try to find the answers…..

I was raised to believe that you need red meat for iron and dairy milk for calcium. I hated them both, but ate them because that’s all we knew.

While I was pregnant with my first, I came across a plant based diet. The more I read, the more I believed it was the best diet for my family. But after I had my son, all that conditioning crept back in, and I began to doubt myself. Sure, I had read that a vegan diet was the healthiest, but was it really? Was I crazy to think that I could raise my kids vegan? Was I actually starving them?

No matter how hard I looked, I just couldn’t get a straight answer. One site would tell me to raise my kids vegan, and the next would say that a vegan diet was dangerous.

The final straw came at my son’s 12 month checkup. His weight was very low, and we didn’t know why. I remember sitting in the doctor’s surgery, terrified to admit that we were vegan. I felt sick at the thought that my vegan diet had done this to him. Maybe my family were right. Maybe I really was starving my child.

It was then and there that I decided to go back to uni. I was sick of not knowing the answers. I was going to study nutrition and find out for myself if a vegan diet really was the healthiest diet for my kids.

Spoiler Alert: Turns out a vegan diet is the healthiest diet for kids! But, it does take some careful planning…

I didn’t want other parents to go through the stress and worry that I did. So I took everything I learnt at uni and made:

Healthy Vegan Families

This course is like having your own personal vegan nutritionist! It doesn’t just teach you the nutrition that you need for healthy vegan kids, it also gives you all the recipes, tools and tricks that you need to actually get your kids to eat the healthy food that they need. Sure, I’m a vegan nutritionist, but I’m also a mum to two super fussy kids, so I know how hard it can be to get them to eat healthy food.

Healthy Vegan Families has been specifically written for vegans. No having to wade through talk about meat and dairy to get to the tiny side note on nuts and beans! Every print out, food list and resource gives you only vegan options.

The nutrition information is focused entirely on the nutrients that are hard to get on a vegan diet, and not the ones you don’t need to worry about.

So What is Healthy Vegan Families?

  • Healthy Vegan Families is like having instant access to your own personal Vegan Nutritionist, without ever having to leave the house!

and have a Graduate Certificate in Human Nutrition. Prior to that, I was an engineer. So I have always been focused on science and the facts. I don’t follow fad diets. Just plain old science based nutrition.

Not only that, but I have two super active (and healthy) boys. My youngest has been vegan since birth, and my eldest since he was 2. So I have many years of experience in feeding fussy kids.

I truly believe that a healthy vegan diet is the best thing that we can do for our kids, and I am passionate about teaching families how to be healthy.

FAQs

Do I Have to Pay Monthly?

No, this is a one time price for lifetime access to the Healthy Vegan Families course, WithExtraVeg Recipe Index and Facebook Group.

I’ve Heard Anyone Can Call Themselves a Nutritionist, what are your qualification?

I have studied Health and Nutrition at University for over 2 years, and have a Graduate Certificate in Human Nutrition.

My Kids Don’t Eat Veggies, Can They Still Be Healthy?

Nor do mine half the time! While veggies are great, and we all probably need to eat more, this course is realistic and doesn’t expect that kids will eat all their veggies every day.

Can You Give Me Medical Advice?

The nutrition information in Healthy Vegan Families is general and based on the Australian Nutrient References and Dietary Guidelines. I give you information so you know when you need to speak to a doctor or healthcare professional, and how to find a supportive one. I am unable to give you personalised medical advice, but I am more than happy to help you find a supportive doctor.

Is Healthy Vegan Families right for me?

Healthy Vegan Families is based on the Australian Dietary Guidelines and the latest scientific research on health and nutrition. I encourage a healthy, balanced diet full of fruits, vegetables, wholegrains, legumes, nuts and seeds. But, of course, not every day is perfect, and that’s ok! Some nights my kids eat veggies, brown rice and tofu for dinner, and others they have oven chips and vegan nuggets.

Do I Need to Supplement?
While food is the best source of nutrients, we do need to take some supplements. Vegans definitely need to take B12 supplements, and there are some other nutrients which we may need to supplement, depending on what we eat.

Do I Have to Be Vegan?

No, absolutely not! The information in Healthy Vegan Families is all vegan, but anyone can benefit from getting more nutrients from fruits, vegetables, wholegrains, nuts, seeds and legumes!  In fact, if you’re transitioning, then the information in Healthy Vegan Families will probably make it easier for you to switch to a vegan diet faster!

What If I’m Not Happy?

I have a 7 Day Refund Policy. So if you buy Healthy Vegan Families and decide it isn’t for you, then I will give you a refund provided you contact me within 7 days of purchase.
