Vegan Chocolate Weetbix Balls

These Vegan Chocolate Weetbix Balls are a healthy and vegan version of a childhood favourite. They are rich and chocolatey, with extra crunch from the Weetbix.

My 3 year old has gone on another food strike, so I’m on the quest again to find super tempting, healthy snacks for him. I think I’ve managed it with these Chocolate Balls, given they are generally all eaten by the afternoon when I make them!

I love this recipe, because it is packed with protein, iron, zinc and magnesium. All really important nutrients for growing kids!

I make these with Uncle Toby’s Vitabrits because they’re sugar free. In Australia, you can also try the Weetbix cereal, although they do have a small amount of sugar. If you’re in the US or UK, I believe there’s a cereal called Weetabix that you can use.

To Make Vegan Chocolate Weetbix Balls

You will need a food processor to make these Chocolate Balls.

Add all of the ingredients except the Weetbix to the food processor and process until they form a fudgey ball.

Add the Weetbix and process until fully incorporated. Don’t overprocess, otherwise you’ll lose the crunch from the Weetbix. The mixture will be crumbly, but it should stay together if you press it between your fingers. If it’s too dry then add 1 – 2 Tbs water and process again.

Roll large spoonfuls of the mix into balls with your hands.

You can store these balls in the fridge or freezer.

Substitutuions

Gluten Free: If you need to make this recipe gluten free, then you can substitute gluten free Weetbix for the normal ones. The rest of the ingredients are already gluten free.

Nut Free: You can make these Vegan Chocolate Weetbix Balls nut free by substituting Sunflower Seed Butter for the Peanut Butter, and Desiccated Coconut for the Almond Meal.

Iron Boost: If you’re concerned about iron intake, you can increase the iron content of these Chocolate Balls by substituting Iron Enriched Baby Cereal for the almond meal.
